Minister and Elders

Our elders are real people. They have seen many and varied years of church experience. In protecting and forecasting the Hillside Community Church culture, they are genuine and unified in their approach. They are not perfect, and all strongly recognise their dependence on God through the Word, wisdom and relationships. They are a great bunch, and we are very lucky to have them with us.

Graeme Carle
Graeme is our Senior Pastor here at Hillside, but it doesn’t stop there. He is a wonderful teacher, an author of four books, as well as a very personable friend to many people. Graeme and Trudy have three grown children and have created two christian ministries, Emmaus Road Ministries and The Parihaka Project. For more information about these ministries visit Hillside’s “Links” page under “Resources”.

Wyn Fountain
Wyn is a statesman amongst us. A veteran of war, business, church and family life. Married to Shirley. We are very privileged to have him as an elder amongst us. His enduring attitude has kept him from the cookie cutter of religion that so often determines what older Christians become. Hillside is a richer place because of Wyn, his insight and willingness to share has enriched everyone that has crossed his path. Wyn takes up a number of roles at Hillside, not the least in bringing insight and taking interviews of people amongst us on Sundays.

Richard Jenkins
Richard’s work life is as a town planner. Married to Gillian and with four children, his practical and common sense approach to the challenges of Church life is appreciated by our Hillside Community. Whether he is chairing a business meeting, or the MC of our Sunday morning meeting, Richard is a straight shooter who likes to see things done fairly and well.

David Wells
David is a self employed business man. David and wife Mary are lovers of people and make a formidable team. “How can we make things better?”, “What works best? Let’s have a look at that”. These are the questions that David asks as he effectively communicates his concern and care for the people of Hillside.

Keith Wagener
Keith’s ministry has “many irons in the fire”. As a teacher to overseas missionary organisations and an applied business acumen to a variety of interests, Keith can speak to hundreds or just to one or two with real clarity. Keith leaves a big impression wherever he goes and his five decades of Christian experience brings many valuable facets. With his dear wife Cathy, they have a christian wealth that they freely give to many.

Janette Tuckey
Janette is married to John and has three teenagers.  Janette as a registered Medical Doctor has her finger on the pulse at Hillside. Her words and actions are always in the best interests of Hillside.  Currently with a special interest in both the Youth  and Womens ministries at Hillside.

Ian Kuperus
Ian  has a strong business background and a wealth of family and life experiences that brings a solid wisdom to the elders court. His decisions are strong, fair and straight. His opinions are carefully listened to in the elders court.
