Vision Supper: On Wednesday March 21st at 7.30pm. Please plan to come to a night of fellowship and inspiration with discussion and feedback. The elders and senior leader will present their vision for Hillside for this year, in major areas of our Church life. Worship, teaching, discipleship, evangelism, world mission, fellowship, inclusion, ministries, training and more. Don’t miss this. Mark your diaries. Supper provided.

Transport needed: If there is anyone who could transport Connie and Christina to church from time to time after Feb 24 when Sue Peters moves to St Heliers please let Sue know on 5213066.

Help needed for our Hillside children: Our children are very important to the life of HCC. They urgently need some dedicated and keen teachers for Sunday mornings. We want to affirm what parents teach in the home by using some wonderful resources. Our elders and others will support you if you believe in our HCC children and believe you should volunteer (yourself or someone else!) for 2012. If you don’t have a lot of modern resources to help with preparing activities and lessons we have access to the Youth and Families Department of the Baptist Union and their staff support any teachers involved with children in our churches. We can work out rosters and team teaching if you feel that each week of the school term is a bit too much for you to take on. Please see Janette Tuckey or Jinny Patrick asap Jinny’s email is jinny.patrick@gmail.com or phone 263 9249

Student needs accommodation: A Carey College student requires accommodation. Contact Lynette Wood on 9083 202 if you would like more information.

Women’s events for 2012: We had a great planning meeting last week and have five exciting events planned. Let’s get these dates into our dairies. Lots more detail will come out over the year. All events are in the church and most are designed to be great for inviting neighbours and friends to come with you. Some will have tickets (or at least sign up) as all events will be catered. A team is being set up for each event and you can be involved – let Jinny Patrick know. All are evening events 7pm – 9.30pm except the first one.

1. Saturday 17 March (7am) a St Patrick’s Day breakfast – wear one thing green. Eat some green things?

2. Friday 18 May Up Up and Away! A travel theme.

3. Friday 13 July Murder Mystery.

4. Friday 21 Sept Themed movie night

5. Friday 23 November. A very special outreach and fun Christmas night.

We are in for a great year – growing in friendship and having events to which we can invite our not-yet-christian friends or christian women who need some well planned, fun events.

Curtains Needed: If you have some old curtains (still usable) please let Ngalu know. Ngalu is a CAP client. You could text her on 021 070 5971.

Bible in schools: I help organise Bible in Schools at St Heliers School. Bible in Schools currently reaches 40% of NZ children. We feel really blessed to be allowed to go in and teach about God and the Bible to the year 1 and 2 kids but we have a problem this year – we have the classes, we have the enthusiastic welcome of the school and community, but we lack the teachers. We have 9 classes to teach and currently only 4 teachers so we are desperate to find more teachers.
We teach on Thursday mornings during term time, from 9am till 9.30am, beginning in March and finishing at the end of November. Teachers have to be police vetted (a simple paperwork process), and there is training. We supply our own materials, and teach from a set curriculum, which is very well organised. You can choose to use photocopied black and white sheets from the teachers’ book, or buy individual work books for kids to use. If any one is interested or would like to learn more could they please contact me on ph: 585 1118, or at my email: ruththehill@hotmail.com and if the Church could pray for more enthusiastic and committed teachers that would be wonderful – it would be devastating to lose this opportunity. Many thanks, Ruth Hill.

Mike Wells Update from Perth:

Hi everyone. How are you?

I hope you’re enjoying getting back into the swing of things for the year be it school, work, uni or whatever it is that you do and I trust that you’re all enjoying the late summer weather and getting caught up on your tans. Things have been pretty warm over here lately as well. Below is a bit more about what’s been happening for me and what I’ll be doing in the coming weeks.

The building projects that I have been helping with are moving along.

I said in my last update that two thirds of the buildings were due to be completed in January. Well I’m happy to let you know that we are fully moved into one of the buildings and the classrooms etc are being used.

A new set of students has arrived. Every 3 months YWAM Perth has a new set of courses beginning and January brought in another group of (mostly) young people to do courses such as a Discipleship Training School. As a part of their course, the students do 2 hours of ‘work duties’ each day with the idea being that the course consists of time outside of the classroom just as much as time in it.

This quarter I have been put in charge of leading a group of 7 people for work duties with our focus being on maintaining the facilities we own, such as dormitories and the various staff houses in the local area. It’s not always easy for me to think of jobs but a couple of popular ones are fixing leaky taps and assembling bunk beds. The students are very gracious and patient when I can’t think of anything for them to do!

One last piece of news is that my family have generously shouted me to come home in May for my cousin’s wedding! I’m really looking forward to it, it will be a whirlwind 3 day trip though as I will be in the middle of helping on a DTS.

Thanks once again everyone for your support, prayers and interest. I’ve enjoyed the start to the year and I hope you have too. Mike

Andrew Robertson Update from Redding USA:

Kia Ora Hillside family!

Here is an update about my time at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry so far. I wrote this at Christmas time and it will hopefully give you a good idea of what I got up to in the first semester. The full report and more reports from earlier on can be found on my Blog andysantics.tumblr.com. Feel free to contact me at any time if you want to know more or just chat, my email address is andrewrobertson92@gmail.com. Thanks so much for all the support and prayer, it has worked amazingly! I have grown more in the last four and a half months than I could imagine growing in ten years! Anyway I hope you enjoy reading this and that God releases the same break throughs in your life that I have experienced…

So what’s happened???

Well I’ve been at school now for 3 months, learning more and more about God’s goodness and all the amazing stuff He has for us. School has been so much better than I ever imagined and is really helping me to build great foundations in my life. I have been really challenged which is awesome but frightening at the same time! It has really been an eye-opening experience.

The biggest changes…

I think I’ve found the biggest change has just been all my mindsets and attitudes haha (only a small thing to change). The way I view myself and just generally everything in life has changed a lot. My relationship with God has gone to far greater heights and this is the root of all the change. I am getting to know and see God as my Father more and more. I am learning more about His characteristics and who He really is, however I still have a LOT to learn! I am learning what it truly means to walk in sonship. Walking in grace and live is so much better than walking in judgement and fear! The whole issue of grace has been huge for me and I’m constantly learning more about it. Not just grace for forgiveness but grace to receive gifts from God and partner with Him.

Another big focus in my life lately has been learning about the presence and how to live in the presence more. I have been taking a class called “cultivating the presence” and it has blown my mind! It is the best class I’ve ever taken in my life PERIOD (even better than lunch time)! Developing my relationship with the Holy Spirit and realizing how much fun it is to have him walk with you throughout everyday life!!! Practicing the presence is so easy and it’s something that I want to focus more on.

Anyway the last few months have blown my world apart! I am so thankful and blessed that I can be here. Thanks so much for all the support! My relationship with God is getting stronger by the day and I am feeling His presence and being led by it so much more. I am coming to truly know my identity in Christ and what that means. Learning to walk in sonship and knowing where i sit (in heavenly places). Pretty much I am the best I have ever been and am so excited about what the future holds!!!

Bless you guys, and I pray that God will encounter you this year like never before, and that you will know His fathers heart for you more and more!

Andy.
